My thoughts about digital life and interaction.

I’m a user on Facebook, on instagram and I read blogs, every day, every hour almost every minute. I’m online 24 hours a day and I know everything about my friends on Facebook and Instagram. I have friends on Facebook that I would never say “hey” to IRL - in real life(!!!). I follow people on Instagram I don’t even know in real life. More importantly I read blogs every day from people I don’t know, I know about their life and I know what they are wearing every single day. They don’t know about me and my life, they don’t even know what I’m wearing every day.

I would like to explore why we in real life are so careful about who we say “hey” to and interact with. For me there is a set of rules of how you interact with different people you meet IRL. We don’t talk to each other in the line at the supermarket, but we have no problem “liking” a picture from a stranger on Instagram. Online, those rules are totally changed. It is okay to interact with people you don’t even know. And, on Facebook we are suddenly closer friends online than we are offline.
